klein toys
The origins of Klein GmbH - from broom to toy manufacturer
Today's Klein toy company was founded in 1949 as a former brush factory. With the aim of standing out from the other broom and brush makers in the village, a children's broom was developed in 1956. Three years later, after a visit to the Nuremberg Toy Fair, this finally led to the family business entering the toy industry with a children's broom, a hand broom and a tin shovel. Since then, the range has been expanded to include many more (realistic) products for children. These include doctor's and handicraft kits, the very popular children's kitchen, a lawn mower and various sand toys. After the "Klein-Pädagogik" concept for educationally valuable toys was introduced in 1993, the company established itself as a toy manufacturer on the market with its own brands. These include, for example, the Manetico building set system, the Technico line and the Cooking-Star kitchen line. Today, the company counts many licensed products of well-known brands, as well as its own brands, which have been expanded many times over.
Current situation
Today, the company located on the southern wine route is represented all over the world with its toys. The most important aspects here are still high-quality toys that are conducive to children's development. The assortment includes many other products in addition to the numerous own brands. The current 200 employees work in Germany on the one hand and in France, England and Spain on the other. By preserving tradition on the one hand and keeping up to date on the other, Klein GmbH is now one of the market leaders for toys in Europe.
Background and inspiration
The basic principle that Klein pursues with their toys is to promote the optimal development of children and at the same time to keep it fun. To ensure this, the products are developed in cooperation with people in the field (educators and kindergarten teachers) and also with parents. The aim is to stimulate the imagination of the youngsters, to arouse curiosity and to give them the opportunity to let their imagination run free. What comes first in the development of a product, besides educators and guardians, is ultimately the opinion of the consumers themselves: that of the children.
Production conditions and standards
All products promise a uniform safety standard, which is guaranteed by compliance with a wide range of DIN norms and quality standards. Even after the goods have been put on the market, they are still regularly tested and checked again and again according to the latest standards. Despite the fact that half of the goods are produced abroad (in the Far East), according to the manufacturer, great importance is attached to the so-called ICTI certificate, which confirms that the minimum social standards are met and that no child labour is supported. In addition, employees on site check annually whether this corresponds to reality. The other half of the products are manufactured in Germany under the standards that are common here.
Product variety
There are currently 8 different product worlds under the Klein name, each with many possibilities for the free development of the child. From a career as a doctor, fireman or firewoman, craftsman, cook or chef to the most varied leisure activities - with Klein products, every child can be anything they can imagine. This ranges from cooking, handicrafts, make-up, sewing and cleaning to their own BBQ including grill and the possibility to pretend to mow the lawn. There are no limits to the children's creativity. With its Manetico and Technico lines, the company also supplies the necessary materials for building and constructing. This means you are not limited to the existing product range, but can come up with your own ideas.
Klein toys are available at well-known retailers and department stores for toys such as idee&spiel, Spiel & Spaß, Spielzeugring, VedesRofu Kinderland, Mifus.de and many more.
